Water buffalo from the Swabian Jura?

Yes, they exist! Water buffalo are becoming increasingly popular here, as they are used in nature conservation areas where they are free to live in large fields and pastures. Where water buffalo graze, certain plants are finally able to grow, and many animal species find a new home there.

These animals are absolute specialists when it comes to moorland. Where machines can no longer be used, or would cause too much damage, the water buffalo come into play; thanks to their physical characteristics, they cope very well with marshy terrain.

Of course, the water buffalo are also slaughtered, and their high-quality meat is put to use.

This is where we come in. The buffalo hides are far too precious and valuable to be disposed of after slaughter. That is why we also have the buffalo hides tanned right here in the Swabian Jura.

Water buffalo leather differs significantly from standard cattle leather. It has shorter fibers, making it very soft and comfortable despite its thickness of up to 8mm. The surface structure also features a wonderful, uniform grain.

High-quality craftsmanship! The water buffalo belts are made from 5 mm thick, vegetable-tanned leather from local animals. After the individual belt straps are cut, they are dyed by hand in the respective color. This collection features sturdy decorative stitching, making these belts absolutely robust companions.

The buckle is attached with a separate tab, rather than the conventional method of simply folding the end of the belt over and sewing the buckle in place. This tab is securely locked and sewn by hand using the saddle stitch. The edges of the belt have been polished with beeswax.

Antique brass buckle - The brass buckle with its beautiful patina gives the belts a special charm.

Dimensions! The belt is 3.9 cm wide and available in various sizes/lengths.
