It is a piece of history and, above all, great craftsmanship that goes into this belt. It is available with various \u003cstrong\u003e\"raw denim\"\u003c\/strong\u003e fabrics from Japan. \u003cstrong\u003eSelvedge denim and twill from Japan are considered worldwide to be the absolute gold standard of denim fabrics. \u003c\/strong\u003e The word “selvedge” is derived from “self-edge.” It describes denim that is woven slowly on traditional, old shuttle looms. Regions such as \u003cstrong\u003eKojima in Okayama\u003c\/strong\u003e thus became the global epicenter for high-end denim.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eThis high-quality belt is crafted in 3 layers. \u003c\/strong\u003eFirst, a vegetable-tanned full-grain leather strap, 2mm thick and 3.9cm wide. The denim fabric is glued onto this, then the whole piece is pressed into a mold in order to be able to apply the final layer, the leather side strips, straight. The adhesive used is a natural starch-based glue, which is intended only to fix the fabric and side strips in place.\u003cstrong\u003e \u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAfterwards, everything was sewn together on our ADLER saddle stitching machine from 1928. The belt loop was manufactured using the same principle and rounds off the piece. \u003cstrong\u003eThe hole reinforcement \u003c\/strong\u003ewas hand-sewn with waxed thread using a saddle stitch, which makes the seam incredibly stable and robust. Edges polished.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eWe only use buckles or clasps made of stainless steel for this belt!\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe vegetable-tanned leather \u003cstrong\u003ewas only lightly greased \u003c\/strong\u003eand thus develops a \u003cstrong\u003ebeautiful patina\u003c\/strong\u003e over time, which perfectly matches the denim.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe fabric used here is a 12oz (oz = English abbreviation for ounces! It is used as fabric weight and means weight per square yard) \"diamond twill.\" \u003cstrong\u003eThis 12oz selvedge diamond twill denim from Japan is manufactured by Nihon Menpu\u003c\/strong\u003e in Ibara.
